Established in 2006, M&S Lighting Services Ltd provide a lighting design and lighting equipment  consultancy service for architects, lighting engineers, building services engineers, interior designers, contractors and building owner / operators. 


We produce imaginative, sympathetic, practical and highly energy-efficient lighting solutions across a very wide portfolio of project types.


 The process starts with your brief and our understanding of the building's history and architecture. This is a consultative and advisory process in respect of all the aesthetic, compliance, technical performance, energy efficiency, maintenance and fiscal requirements for your project.


We offer you our expertise in Interior, exterior and emergency lighting.

Site visits and surveys are available as required.


Our proposed lighting design scheme drawings and / or luminaire selections also include, where required, details and specifications for an appropriate lighting control system and project-relevant electrical / wiring requirements. 

In most cases these will be a provided along with a clear and concise illustrated Bill of Quantities  for the proposed lighting equipment.


To aid the tender and procurement process our lighting design / specification for your project can be supported with matching project quotations logged on the proposed lighting manufacturers systems.


Our complete project management - through to final sign-off methodology ensures that your projects are delivered on time, in budget and achieve relevant statutory compliance standards.

OUR MD

Hi, I'm Stuart Markham, most people know me as Stu or Stuee.


From a (truncated) mechanical engineering craft apprenticeship I joined the lighting industry in 1983 and during the next 23 years worked for OEM lighting companies as a technical representative, projects engineer, sales director and marketing director.


With a passion for excellent lighting design and the desire to work with multiple OEM manufacturers, rather than being tied to just one, I started M&S Lighting Services in 2006 which became incorporated in 2012.

This has taken me to practices and sites all over our country where I have been very fortunate to have worked on a fascinating range of projects of all sizes - from the relighting of one single room to major new construction projects.


I regularly meet with lighting, control system, component manufacturers and distributors to keep pace with the latest products, technology, processes and trends.


I am married to a professional musician, we have five children between us. In my spare time I sing bass in two choirs, am a retired 100m sprinter, enjoy walking, cycling and riding my motorbike when it's not cold or wet!
